Dr. Emma Arya-Manesh is a Senior Researcher in the School of Education at the University of Chester, part of the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She co-directs the Centre for Research into Education, Creativity and Arts through Practice (RECAP) and has conducted research across diverse settings including art galleries, schools, and international institutions. Her work focuses on peacebuilding in education, creative pedagogy, and cultural geography, with a particular emphasis on contextualizing educational practices within global and local frameworks.
Dr. Arya-Manesh holds a PhD in Peacebuilding in Education (University of Chester), an MRes in Globalisation and Development (University of Liverpool), and a BA in Cultural and Social Geography (Liverpool John Moores University). She has secured external funding from local authorities, charities, and international organizations, contributing to projects like the ADAPTS-Powys initiative and the Storyhouse Young Leaders program.
Her research interests span educational methodologies, arts-based interventions, and the intersection of cultural contexts with pedagogical strategies. She currently serves as Editorial Manager for the International Journal of Art & Design Education (iJADE) and Associate Editor for COMPARE: A Journal of Comparative and International Education, reflecting her commitment to scholarly dissemination.
In terms of supervision and collaboration, Dr. Arya-Manesh oversees PhD students in education-related fields and actively participates in advisory committees. Her involvement with the Culture and Society Research Institute, Sustainability Research Institute, and Health and Wellbeing Research Institute underscores her interdisciplinary approach to addressing societal challenges through education and creative practices.
Dr. Arya-Manesh is available for collaborative projects, industry partnerships, and academic advisory roles, further extending her impact across multiple sectors.
