Emma Armstrong is a Lecturer in Criminology & Criminal Justice at the Department of Law, Policing and Investigation, Teesside University. She holds a PhD (2023), MSc (2019), and BSc (2018) from Teesside University. Her research focuses on military veterans' transition to civilian life using ultra-realist methodologies, critical criminology, and green criminology. She currently co-leads the "Towards a shared understanding of neighbourhood crime and anti-social behaviour" project (2023–present).

Research Interests: Qualitative methodologies, mental health policy, veteran reintegration, neoliberalism's impact on criminology, and community-based crime prevention strategies. Her work critiques systemic barriers in self-harm reporting and advocates for participatory policy development.
