معرفی
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emine Görgül is an accomplished academic at Istanbul Technical University's Department of Interior Architecture, where she has served as Associate Professor since 2015. She previously held positions as Assistant Professor (2014-2015) and Lecturer (2013-2014) at the same institution. Her international academic experience includes visiting professorships at Auburn University (USA), Manipal University (India), Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, Hong Kong University, and teaching at the prestigious Architectural Association in London.
Dr. Görgül earned her PhD in Architectural Design from Istanbul Technical University (2002-2013) following her Master's degree with thesis in the same field (1999-2002). Her educational background is complemented by a degree in Architecture from ITU (1995-1999) and a Sociology license from Istanbul University (2019).
Her research spans multiple interconnected domains including Architectural History, Cultural and Natural Heritage, and Interior Architectural Design with a particular focus on spatiotemporal narratives, emotional responses to space, and the relationship between narrative and spatial representation. Dr. Görgül's work bridges philosophy (particularly Deleuze-Guattari studies), film analysis, urban history, and practical design applications. Her fingerprint analysis reveals strong engagement with 'Feelings,' 'Spatiotemporal' concepts, 'Temporal' dimensions, 'Curriculum Development,' and 'Architectural Education.'
Analysis of her publication record shows consistent scholarly output with increasing impact in recent years (2022-2024), demonstrating a clear trajectory from theoretical explorations toward practical applications in architectural education and healthcare design. Her work connects philosophical frameworks with tangible design problems, particularly in specialized environments like Alzheimer's care facilities and educational spaces.
- VEKAM Research Awards (2022)
Dr. Görgül has secured significant research funding as Principal Investigator for five major projects between 2015-2021, including innovative approaches in interior architecture education, Alzheimer's care environments, narrative-space interactions, nanomaterials applications, and prison design research. Her leadership roles include serving as Deputy Director of Research and Application Center (2022) and Deputy Head of Department (2014-2018). She actively participates in international academic networks including the Deleuze Studies in India Collective, Dutch Alumni Network, Architectural Association London, DOCOMOMO, and TMMOB Istanbul Chamber of Architects.
