Derya Uzal is an Instructor at MEF University's Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, where she has been working as a research assistant since 2015. She holds interior architecture and architecture degrees from Istanbul Technical University and is currently pursuing her PhD at the same institution's Architectural Design Program.

Dr. Uzal's research focuses on Turkish Architecture in the Early Republic period, as evidenced by her documentation and exhibition work at SALT. Her professional experience includes working at EMBT | Enric Miralles - Benedetta Tagliabue | ARQUITECTES Associats-Barcelona office in 2014. Her expertise spans architectural design, interior spaces, and historical preservation with strong emphasis on Turkish architectural heritage.
She has received multiple prestigious awards for her architectural projects:
- Purchase Prize - Erenköy Mental and Nervous Diseases Training and Research Hospital Bizimköy Architecture Project Competition
- Purchase Prize - Yıldız Technical University Davutpaşa Campus Event Area Design Competition
- 1st Prize - DEGİAD Living Pamukkale National Architectural Idea Project Competition
As an educator, Uzal has developed and led the MEF FADA Design and Build! Studio Projects including Prana (2018), 22,5 (2017), and Dolambaç (2016), which provide students with hands-on architectural experience. Her FADA Hangar Studio Design Project demonstrates her commitment to practical, studio-based architectural education that bridges theory and practice.
Her collaborative work extends to significant architectural projects including the Purchase project at Izmir University of Economics Güzelbahçe Campus and the Erenköy Mental and Nervous Diseases Training and Research Hospital project.
