معرفی
Prof. Emin Çiftçi is a Professor of Geological Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (ITU), where he has held academic positions since 2001. He earned his PhD from Missouri University of Science and Technology (2000) and has extensive experience in ore deposits research, including roles as Department Head (2021–2024) and Senate Member. His work focuses on geochemistry, ore genesis, and mineralogy-petrography of volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, hydrothermal systems, and environmental impacts of mining.
Education:
- PhD: Missouri University of Science and Technology (2000)
- MSc: Black Sea Technical University (1993)
- BSc: Black Sea Technical University (1991)
Research interests emphasize VMS deposits in Turkey, particularly in the Pontides and Taurus regions. He investigates ore genesis mechanisms, hydrothermal fluid evolution, and metallogeny through isotopic (Re-Os, S-Pb) and mineralogical approaches. His recent studies include the Cerattepe Cu-Au deposit (NE Turkey) and environmental impacts of abandoned copper mines.
Grants and Projects:
- Lead investigator in 15+ projects on Turkish metallogeny, uranium characterization, and sustainable water management (2021–2025).
- Focused on genetic investigations of copper, gold, and iron deposits in Central Anatolia and Eastern Turkey.
Labs/Teams: Active in ITU's Geological Engineering Department research groups specializing in ore deposit geology, geochemistry, and environmental geology.
