Emily T. Rosenman is an Associate Professor of Geography in the Department of Geography at the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, Pennsylvania State University. She serves as Director of the Penn State Lab for Analysis of Culture and Environment (PLACE) and holds affiliate faculty positions at the Rock Ethics Institute and the Social Science Research Institute (SSRI).
Her research examines the connections between finance, urbanization, and inequality through a critical lens on financialization's role in contemporary crises. Key interests include:
- Geographies of financialization in impact investing and green finance
- Ultra-rich philanthropy's relationship to urban governance
- Corporate harms in pharmaceutical and e-cigarette industries
- Monetary policy impacts on regional inequality
- Racialized dimensions of housing and impoverishment
Methodologically grounded in relational analysis, her work investigates how financial solutions are narrated and experienced across governments, communities, and industry actors. Current projects address income share agreements as student loan alternatives, low-carbon retrofits in low-income housing, and transnational monetary policy effects.
