Emily S. Finn is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at Dartmouth College. Her research focuses on individual differences in cognition under naturalistic stimuli like movies and stories, combining behavioral, neuroimaging, and computational techniques. She explores how traits and states influence perception and brain activity patterns.
Education: B.A. in Linguistics (Yale University), Ph.D. in Neuroscience (Yale University), Postdoc at NIMH.
Research interests include neural event segmentation, ambiguity resolution in narratives, and computational modeling of cognitive processes. Recent work highlights variability in neural responses to dynamic stimuli and collaborative studies in social neuroscience.
Key awards include the NIMH Brains Award (2023). She advises PhD students such as Thomas Botch, Kathryn O’Nell, and Clara Sava-Segal, and leads the FINN Lab, committed to diversity and equity in academia.
