Dr. Emily Oliver is an Assistant Professor at Richmont Graduate University's School of Counseling, having been promoted in July 2023 following the conferral of her Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Lee University. She specializes in areas such as purity culture's impact on adult sexual functioning, Christian sex therapy, and child/adolescent counseling. As Coordinator of the Marriage and Family Therapy Certificate program, she teaches core courses and mentors students, leveraging her experience as a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and AAMFT Approved Supervisor.
Her research, highlighted in her dissertation *“Nothing Like We Expected”: Examining the Relationship between Purity Culture and Sexual Functioning and Satisfaction in Adulthood*, explores intersections of cultural norms and relational health. Dr. Oliver is a Richmont alumna, having earned her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy there.
