Dr. Emily L. Spratt is a Post-Doctoral Fellow at Columbia University, specializing in Byzantine and Renaissance-Baroque art history with expertise in Data Science and AI ethics. She holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University (dissertation on Byzantine artistic legacy in the early modern period), an M.A. in Renaissance art from Princeton, an M.A. in Byzantine art from UCLA, and a B.A. in Religious Studies, Art History, and Psychology from Cornell.
Her research focuses on Venice and the Mediterranean (1400–1700), Hellenic cultural heritage preservation, computer vision in art analysis, and AI ethics. She leads an interdisciplinary initiative at Columbia on AI-enhanced technologies for art curation and ethics. Notable projects include cultural heritage preservation of Post-Byzantine icons in Greece and collaborations with institutions like Iconem and The Frick Collection.
