Emily Kurlansik

Dr. Emily Kurlansik is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where she serves as a Clinical Neuropsychologist. She is licensed in New York and holds specialty certifications as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Nationally Certified School Psychologist. Her clinical work focuses on pediatric neuropsychological assessments for a range of neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Dr. Kurlansik's educational background includes:

• Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) from Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology
• Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropsychology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center

Dr. Kurlansik's research and clinical interests center on pediatric neuropsychology, with a focus on assessing and treating children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and learning disabilities, as well as neurological conditions including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and traumatic brain injuries. Her holistic, team-based approach emphasizes collaboration with families, healthcare providers, and educators to optimize patient care.

Dr. Kurlansik's scholarly work reflects a commitment to advancing neurological care through research in movement disorders, vascular conditions, and medical education. Her publications explore innovative diagnostic strategies for Parkinson's disease in its pre-motor phase, the evolution of diagnostic criteria for reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome, and the integration of neurology training within psychiatry residencies. Dr. Kurlansik is actively involved in training the next generation of neuropsychologists. As Co-Director of the Learning Disabilities/Neurobehavior Clinic, Dr. Kurlansik leads a multidisciplinary team that offers comprehensive care, consultation, and triage services for children and their families.
