Emily Knox is an Associate Professor and Graduate Landscape Architecture Chair at Auburn University's School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. She holds a Master of Landscape Architecture (2018) and a Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning (2015), both from The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on social-ecological systems, particularly in landscapes where ecological and social systems intersect, such as the sheep ranching regions of Argentinian Patagonia and Alabama's native meadows. She advocates for design as a tool to address global pressures on these systems.
She joined Auburn as a Visiting Assistant Professor in 2018, was promoted to Associate Professor with tenure in 2024, and assumed the role of MLA Program Chair. Her work includes collaborations on projects like the Alabama meadows biodiversity study and the exploration of mass timber impacts in Alabama's forested landscapes. She actively participates in university events, such as the LAND40 anniversary celebration for the Landscape Architecture program.
Knox teaches studio and representation courses and has advised students like Helena Starnes. Her contributions to the field were recognized through Auburn's promotions and tenure decisions, emphasizing her scholarly and pedagogical impact.
