Emily J. Levine is an Associate Professor of Education at Stanford University with a courtesy appointment in History. She holds a PhD in History from Stanford (2008) and a BA from Yale (2001). Her work focuses on the history of research universities, transatlantic academic exchange, and intellectual history.
Levine authored Allies and Rivals: German-American Exchange and the Rise of the Modern Research University (2021) and Dreamland of Humanists (2013), awarded the Herbert Baxter Adams Prize. She has held prestigious fellowships from the NEH, National Humanities Center, and Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
