Emily Levine is Associate Professor of Education and, by courtesy, History at Stanford University. She specializes in intellectual history, the history of education, and German-American relations, with a focus on the development of the modern research university.

Her research examines the comparative history of universities, transatlantic intellectual exchange, and the role of institutions in shaping knowledge production. She has published extensively in scholarly journals and public intellectual forums like The New York Times and The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Levine's work is currently funded by a multi-year Stanford grant dedicated to Recovering the University as a Public Good. Prior to her current role, she held the Candace Bernard and Robert Glickman Dean’s Professorship at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
