Emily J. Blanchard is an Associate Professor of Business Administration at the Tuck School of Business, Dartmouth College, and holds the Daniel R. Revers T'89 Faculty Fellowship. She is a Research Fellow with the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR), a CESifo Research Network member, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Zürich. Her expertise lies at the intersection of international economics and public policy, with a focus on global value chains, trade wars, and the socio-economic impacts of globalization.
- Education: PhD and MSc in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison; AB in Economics (with Honors) from Wellesley College.
Her research analyzes how foreign investment and global value chains reshape trade policy, geopolitical tensions, and income distribution. Recent studies examine FDI reallocation under geopolitical stress, sanctions design, and the electoral consequences of trade wars. She also investigates human capital acquisition and trade intermediation mechanisms.
Her teaching includes Global Economics for Managers, Cooperation and Competition in the Global Economy, and experiential courses in Vietnam and Mississippi. Media engagements since 2021 highlight her insights on tariffs, trade wars, and economic policy uncertainty.
