Emily Howe is a Lecturer in the Conservation of Wall Painting Department at The Courtauld Institute of Art. She specializes in interdisciplinary approaches to wall painting conservation, combining non-invasive recording, art historical research, and material analysis. Her career spans private practice, museum work (including the V&A), and academic teaching since 2006. She currently leads the digitization of The Courtauld’s National Wall Paintings Survey, supported by major grants from the Paul Mellon Centre, Pilgrim Trust, and Marc Fitch Fund.

Her conservation projects include iconic sites like Westminster Abbey, Eton College, and Hampton Court Palace. She has supervised PhD candidates examining Buddhist wall paintings in Ladakh, co-authored with leading scholars like Christine Stevenson and Aviva Burnstock.
