Emily Hermant

Emily Hermant is an Assistant Professor at the Audain Faculty of Art and Assistant Dean of Engagement + Initiatives at Emily Carr University of Art + Design in Vancouver. She holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University and an MFA in Fiber & Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as a Trustee Merit Scholar. Her interdisciplinary practice focuses on large-scale sculptures and installations exploring themes of communication, gendered labor, and spatial experiences of the body. She has taught at institutions including the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Tulane University.

Her work has been supported by grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec, alongside residencies at notable institutions. Hermant is actively involved in public art initiatives and community projects, contributing to Vancouver's cultural landscape.
