Lecturer in German at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Emily Goodling teaches German language at all levels and offers seminars on cultural, literary, and political themes. Goodling’s research examines evolving conceptions of the political in German theater, particularly the valorization of authenticity in postmigrant performance spaces in Berlin. Her work, supported by Berlin and Mellon Fellowships, addresses the potential and challenges of platforms for underrepresented voices in contemporary German theater.
