Emily Dixon

Emily Dixon is an Associate Professor of Social Work at SAU, based in the Global-Grand Rapids office. She has been a full-time faculty member since 2011, teaching in the BSW and MSW programs through various modalities, including global sites, Zoom, and online platforms. Her work focuses on integrating faith and learning, reflecting SAU's ethos of service-oriented education.

• Bachelor's of Social Work, Western Michigan University
• Master's of Social Work, Grand Valley State University

Research Interests: Child welfare policy, family preservation practices, foster care systems, and the impact of remote internship learning on social work student competence. Her recent work examines student experiences with alternative internships.

Affiliations: Member of the National Association of Christian Social Workers (NACSW).

Teaching & Philosophy: Emily’s passion for education stems from her role as a trainer for new foster care workers, emphasizing critical thinking and problem-solving. She values SAU’s commitment to faith integration, which enriches classroom discussions and aligns with social work’s service-oriented mission.
