Emily Clark is Professor Emerita of History at Tulane University's School of Liberal Arts, specializing in Atlantic World studies with focus on race, religion, and gender intersections. Authored award-winning books including Masterless Mistresses (2007) examining New Orleans Ursulines' impact on colonial society, and The Strange History of the American Quadroon (2013) deconstructing racial myths.
Research investigates Afro-Catholic traditions, colonial institutional development, and transnational narratives in French/Spanish America. Current project explores African-descended militiamen in the American Revolution through Senegambian cultural lens.
