Emily Ashcroft is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Education at the University of Canberra. She transitioned to academia in 2018 after a decade as a primary educator in the ACT, including roles in the Catholic Education system, ACT Education Directorate, and an International Baccalaureate school. Her expertise spans Creative Arts, English, Mathematics, and Technologies education, with a specialization in STEM practices.
Emily holds an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Primary Education from Australian Catholic University (Canberra) and a Master of Education (Educational Leadership) from Charles Sturt University. She is currently completing a PhD exploring the application of the STEM Practices Framework in Foundation Year education, extending the Early Learning STEM Australia (ELSA) Project's work through the STEM Education Research Centre (SERC).
Her research interests focus on integrating STEM practices in early education, with affiliations to the Mathematics Education Research Group of Australasia (MERGA). Emily actively mentors pre-service and early-career teachers, contributing to teacher education and professional development initiatives.
