Emilio Grande, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at California State University, East Bay. His research focuses on hydrological processes spanning from headwater catchments to coastal oceans, with an emphasis on surface water-groundwater interactions, biogeochemical cycling, and climate change impacts on water systems.
- Current research initiatives include coastal hydro-biogeochemistry, streamflow generation in mountainous systems, and groundwater-surface water exchanges.
- Teaching philosophy centers on hands-on, active learning with lab/field components in most courses.
The lab's publications (2019–2024) reveal trends in studying tidal influences, seasonal dynamics, and isotope tracing in salt marshes, alongside catchment-scale analyses of storage variability and nutrient transport. Recent work connects terrestrial groundwater stressors to coastal wetland sustainability.
