معرفی
Emilio Cusanelli is an Associate Professor and Principal Investigator at the Department of Cellular, Computational and Integrative Biology (CIBIO) at the University of Trento, Italy. His academic career includes roles as Senior Researcher (2016-2019) and Post-doctoral researcher at institutions in Austria, Canada, and the USA. He holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine from the European School of Molecular Medicine (SEMM), Naples, and a B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from the University of Sannio, Benevento.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Molecular Medicine (Molecular Oncology), European School of Molecular Medicine - SEMM, Federico II University, Naples, Italy (2005–2009).
- Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences (Molecular Biology), University of Sannio, Benevento, Italy (1999–2004).
Research Interests: Focuses on telomere biology, telomerase, noncoding RNA, genomic instability, and their roles in cancer and human diseases. His lab investigates telomere maintenance mechanisms, transcriptional regulation, and molecular imaging via fluorescence microscopy. Research also explores the connection between RNA telomerics and genomic instability in cancer progression.
Teaching: Teaches courses such as Biology applied to Biotechnology, Molecular Biology of the Cell, and Transcriptional Control in Cancer, integrating molecular biology principles with clinical implications of cellular dysfunction in diseases like cancer.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics at CIBIO, University of Trento, dedicated to understanding telomere biology and its applications in biomedical research.
