Emilie Yliheljo is a Doctoral Researcher at the Faculty of Law and part of the Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS) at the University of Helsinki. Her work focuses on the legal intersections of Climate Law, Financial Regulation, and Commercial Law, particularly in Carbon Markets and Emissions Trading.

Research interests include the legal nature of emission allowances, regulatory frameworks for carbon capture and utilization (CCU), and the intersection of climate policy with financial markets. Her 2024 publications on CCU value chains under climate law demonstrate her focus on Environmental Law and Climate Policy.
She has received funding from Business Finland for the BF Bio-CCU project (2022-2024) and actively participates in international academic activities, including talks at Oxford University and University of Oslo. Her editorial role at the Juridiska föreningen i Finland journal highlights her contributions to academic discourse.
