Emilie Gauthier is a doctoral researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany, within the Department of Compound Environmental Risks. She is part of the Compound Climate Extremes research group led by Dr. Emanuele Bevacqua. Her PhD focuses on analyzing spatial dependencies of extreme wildfire events in Europe using the Fire Weather Index and SMILEs simulations, addressing compound event impacts under climate change.
Education:
- Since 2024: PhD student at UFZ
- 2022-2024: Master in Geography - Global Change, Université de Liège, Belgium
- 2019-2022: Bachelor in Meteorology, Université du Québec à Montréal, Canada
Research interests include compound weather events, wildfire spatial dependencies, climate change impacts on wildfires, Fire Weather Index modeling, and SMILEs simulations. She explores how simultaneous wildfires across regions strain shared resources under frameworks like the European Protection Agreement.
Labs/Teams: Active in the Compound Climate Extremes group, collaborating on interdisciplinary approaches to compound environmental risks. No listed awards or publications yet, reflecting early-stage research.
