Professor Santoro's research focuses on macroeconomics and monetary economics, with particular emphasis on business cycle analysis and monetary policy design. His work spans four main strands: the connection between credit markets and the real economy, information frictions and consumers' inflation expectations, inter-sectoral linkages in intermediate goods markets, and asymmetries in monetary policy transmission. His recent publications explore topics such as government spending multipliers, house prices and fiscal policy, leverage effects on business cycles, and credit cycle dynamics, demonstrating a consistent focus on how monetary policy interacts with financial frictions and sectoral heterogeneity.
His research has been published in top journals including American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Scandinavian Journal of Economics, with several papers accumulating substantial citations and policy relevance. His article 'Leverage and Deepening Business Cycle Skewness' has received 25 citation indexes and 29 policy citations, while 'The Government Spending Multiplier in a Multi-Sector Model' has garnered 20 citation indexes and 9 policy citations.
