Emidio Gabrielli is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Trieste, actively engaged in theoretical particle physics research. He serves on the Department Council and Boards of Studies, and is a member of the 'Standard Model and Beyond' research group focusing on Elementary Particles within Theoretical Physics.
His research spans fundamental areas including quantum field theory, Standard Model extensions, and novel investigations at the intersection of quantum mechanics and high-energy physics. Dr. Gabrielli has recently pioneered work on testing Bell inequalities and quantum entanglement in collider environments, representing the first verification of Bell inequality violation in the high-energy sector.
His current research directions include signatures of feebly interacting light particles (axions, dark photons, KK gravitons) at intensity frontiers, flavor physics and mass hierarchy models, Lee-Wick theories, quantum entanglement applications in new physics searches, and asymptotically safe theories embedding the Standard Model. His work maintains close contact with experimental groups to ensure theoretical predictions can be tested against empirical data.
Dr. Gabrielli supervises thesis projects including 'Study of quantum entanglement and violations of Bell inequalities in elementary particle systems' and 'Production of e+e- or muon-antimuon pairs from polarized photon sources via the Bethe-Heitler mechanism.'
His research demonstrates significant impact, with his 2024 Physical Review D publication on Bell inequality violations in B meson decays achieving remarkable statistical significance (36 standard deviations for Bell violation and 84 for entanglement), representing a groundbreaking connection between quantum foundations and high-energy physics.
