Dr. Emi Minghui Gui is a Research Fellow at Monash University's Civil & Environmental Engineering Department. She leads initiatives in energy system decarbonisation, electricity sector transitions, and net zero energy planning across Southeast Asia and Australia, collaborating with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and international think tanks. Since 2022, she has served as a Council Member for the UN Council of Engineers for the Energy Transition (CEET), advising on renewable energy deployment, coal transition, and energy access.
Gui holds a PhD in Energy Policy and Economics from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), an MBA from Melbourne Business School, and a Master of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Her expertise spans decentralized energy systems, socio-economic aspects of distributed infrastructure, community energy, and consumer-centric utility innovations. She facilitates knowledge collaboration and capacity-building to strengthen energy-climate linkages.
Her research focuses on bridging gaps in climate mitigation through participatory foresight, coal transition strategies, and VRE integration frameworks. Key projects include Australia-ASEAN capacity-building workshops and foresighting studies for net zero energy systems. She actively contributes to policy dialogues, media commentary, and international conferences.
Gui has received recognition as a Fellow at the Université de Montpellier (2024) and collaborates with global institutions like the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). She supervises PhD students and engages in multilateral power trading studies.
