Emanuel Severus

Emanuel Severus holds the position of Consultant in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Technische Universität Dresden's University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus since 2014. Previously, he served as a Senior Physician at LMU München (2007–2011) and TU Dresden (2012–2013), and a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School's McLean Hospital (1999–2001). His academic background includes an MD from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (1988–1996), postgraduate training in Psychiatry at FU Berlin and LMU München, a PhD (2002), and a Habilitation (2015) in Psychiatry from TU Dresden.

His research focuses on bipolar disorders, digital phenotyping, and e-mental health. Key interests include optimizing lithium therapy protocols, investigating cognitive deficits in bipolar patients, and advancing clinical trial methodologies for depression treatments.
