Ema Dimastrogiovanni is a tenured Assistant Professor at the Van Swinderen Institute for Particle Physics and Gravity, University of Groningen, and holds an Adjunct Senior Lecturer position at the School of Physics, University of New South Wales. She works at the intersection of cosmology and gravitational wave physics.
- PhD in Physics (University of Padova, 2010)
- Master of Science in Physics (University of Texas at Austin, 2007)
- Laurea in Physics (University of Salento at Lecce, 2003)
Her research focuses on theoretical cosmology using gravitational wave probes to study the early universe. Current work explores axion dynamics, inflationary models, and non-Gaussianity. Her publications show increasing emphasis on gravitational wave anisotropies and quantum gravitational effects since 2021.
Recent articles examine axion-gauge field interactions during inflation, kinetic friction mechanisms, and universal constraints on early universe physics. These works typically combine high energy physics, cosmological perturbation theory, and observational signatures in gravitational wave experiments.
- International Emerging Action grant (2022-2023)
- Beate Naroska Visiting Professorship (2021-2022)
- Emmy Noether Visiting Fellowship (2017-2018)
She teaches gravitational waves, quantum mechanics, and mathematical physics at University of Groningen. As EuCAPT Steering Committee Member and ET Collaboration Board Member, she leads major initiatives in gravitational wave discovery. Her advising spans PhD, Master's, and Bachelor's students across multiple institutions.
