Elsabe Boshoff is a Research Fellow at the Norwegian Centre for Human Rights (NCHR), University of Oslo. She holds a Doctoral Research Fellowship focusing on the recognition and operationalization of the human right to sustainable development within global and African human rights systems. Previously, she worked at the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights (2017–2020) and holds an LL.M. (cum laude) from the University of Pretoria’s Centre for Human Rights, alongside degrees from Stellenbosch University.
Her research interests center on environmental human rights, sustainable development, business and human rights in Africa, and transitional justice in conflict contexts. She teaches courses on human rights law, sustainable development, international humanitarian law, and environmental law.
Boshoff has published widely on African human rights frameworks, including co-editing Governance, Human Rights, and Political Transformation in Africa (2019) and contributing chapters on gender, environmental justice, and children’s rights in African contexts. Her work bridges legal scholarship with policy advocacy, emphasizing rights-based approaches to environmental governance.
