Dr Elsa Tulin Sen is a Visiting Research Fellow in the Department of War Studies at King’s College London and a Teaching Fellow in Political Science at the Institut Catholique de Paris. She serves as associate editor of the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies. Her research focuses on nationalism, social movements, and Middle Eastern geopolitics with particular expertise on Kurdish issues in Turkey and Syria.

Her work examines how ethnic conflicts intersect with state policies, diasporic identities, and transnational movements. Current projects include analyzing recurring cycles of Kurdish-Turkish conflict and the impact of Syrian civil war on regional dynamics.
Publications span peer-reviewed articles in Confluences Méditerranée, Maghreb-Machrek, and New Middle Eastern Studies, alongside forthcoming monographs with Bloomsbury. She regularly contributes to academic debates through book reviews and editorial work.
Affiliated with King’s College’s Research Centre for the Study of Divided Societies, she explores ethno-national tensions in global contexts. Previously presented at events like 'The Syrian Conflict’s Impact on Kurdish Movements' (2021).
