Elroy Dimson is a Professor of Finance and Research Director at Cambridge Judge Business School (University of Cambridge), and a Bye-Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He holds an Emeritus Professor title at London Business School. His research focuses on responsible investment, long-horizon investing, and financial market history, with notable studies on global investment returns and real assets like art and collectibles. He earned a BA from Newcastle University, MCom from Birmingham University, and PhD from the London School of Economics.
Dr. Dimson has published influential books including Global Investment Returns Yearbook, Financial Market History, and Triumph of the Optimists. He advises organizations such as the CFA Institute Research Foundation and the Geneva Finance Research Institute, and previously chaired Norway’s sovereign wealth fund strategy council. His work bridges historical financial analysis with modern investment strategies, emphasizing ethical investing (ESG) and endowment management.
