Elpida Makrygianni

Elpida Makrygianni MBE is the Head of Education Engagement at University College London (UCL) Engineering, leading the Engagement team in designing and delivering STEM programs for children and young people. Her work focuses on promoting diversity, inclusion, and equality in STEM careers through strategic initiatives like the 50:50 Engagement Strategy, which targets underrepresented groups such as girls and ethnic minority pupils.

With a PhD in Artificial Intelligence Engineering and degrees in engineering, computer science, and economics, she has collaborated with global organizations including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, UNESCO, and the UK Department for Education. Her projects emphasize bridging educational gaps and fostering partnerships across sectors to advance STEM accessibility.
