Professor Eloise Scotford is a Professor of Environmental Law and Dean of the Faculty of Laws at University College London (UCL). She previously served as Vice-Dean (Research) for UCL Laws (2019-2021) and led REF2021 submissions for Law.

Research focuses on environmental governance, climate change law, and sustainable development. Her expertise includes UK environmental law frameworks, devolution impacts, and international environmental agreements. She actively advises governments and international bodies like Defra and UN Environment Programme.
Professional roles include Trustee of UK Environmental Law Association (UKELA), co-chair of its Governance & Devolution Group (2020-2022), and advisory board member for the Journal of Environmental Law. She is an Associate Member of Landmark Chambers and part of the EU environmental law experts network Avosetta.
Pre-UCL career includes Senior Lecturer roles at King’s College London (2010-2017) and Oxford University fellowships (2007-2010). Her work intersects legal frameworks with policy challenges in sustainability goals (SDGs 11,13,16).
