Dr Ellie Macdonald is a Lecturer in Digital Production at the University of Stirling, affiliated with the Communications, Media and Culture school. Her research focuses on the ontology of photography through complexity theory, exploring themes such as national identities, psychogeography, and the creation of photographic meaning. She is also engaged in visual studies and curation, with a particular interest in national art and local cultural narratives.
Her photographic practice emphasizes identity and memory, with exhibitions in Scotland, Wales, and the United States. She actively contributes to Offline Journal, a print publication dedicated to photographic discourse. Her work aligns with the university's Research Programmes in Digital Society and Culture, and her Research Themes include Cultures, Communities & Society.
