Dr. Ellen Vanderhoven is a Lecturer in Education Studies at the University of Glasgow's School of Education. Her research focuses on education policy from international and comparative perspectives, particularly youth transitions, vocational education, and policy transfer. She collaborates on projects like the REDUPOL study examining Catholic education in France and Spain, and co-convenes the Glasgow Comparative and International Education Research (GLACIER) Network. Prior to her PhD at the University of Glasgow, she worked as a modern languages teacher in France, Spain, and England, emphasizing her commitment to education equity and internationalism.
Her work integrates sociology and youth studies, addressing social inequalities such as gender and class. She has contributed to initiatives like YOUNG_ADULLLT and Dual Apprenticeship, analyzing global apprenticeship systems and dual training models. Recent outputs include studies on dual VET systems, lifelong learning policy participation, and community music's role in youth engagement.
Dr. Vanderhoven has advised on policy projects funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund and contributed to reports such as 'Reconnecting Disadvantaged Young People to Care and Education through Community Music.'
