Ellen Oglesby Carr is an Adjunct Professor of Finance at Columbia Business School, where she teaches courses on corporate credit markets, investment grade/high yield bonds, and cash flow forecasting. She concurrently serves as a Principal and High Yield Bond Portfolio Manager at Barksdale Investment Management (BIM), a women-owned firm specializing in fixed income. Her professional background includes 11 years at The Capital Group as a leveraged credit analyst and portfolio manager.

Her research focuses on gender diversity in investment management and credit market dynamics. She co-authored Undiversified: The Big Gender Short in Investment Management (2021) and edited The Credit Investor’s Handbook (2024). Her work emphasizes practical applications of credit analysis and systemic issues in financial industry representation.
Ellen chairs investment committees for the NPR Foundation, Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, and UNCA Foundation. She also manages a family foundation awarding college scholarships in rural areas.
