معرفی
Prof. Ellen Nollen is a Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, and Huntington's, with an emphasis on genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying protein aggregation and aging. She leads the Healthy Ageing programme and is affiliated with ERIBA (Erlangen Research Institute for the Biology of Ageing).
**Awards & Grants**: Recipient of the Rosalind Franklin Fellowship (first female awardee at UMCG), EMBO Young Investigator, and a €1.5M ERC grant. Her work has explored modifiers of protein toxicity and aging processes, including the discovery of the MOAG-4/SERF gene's role in regulating protein aggregation.
**Research**: Utilizes C. elegans models to study amyloid formation, drug therapies (e.g., amonafide), and molecular pathways in neurodegeneration. Collaborates on projects involving optogenetics, gene therapy (AAV), and advanced imaging techniques.
**Labs & Teams**: Active in ERIBA and the UMCG, contributing to interdisciplinary aging and genetics research. Her team's findings bridge basic science and translational medicine, aiming to develop therapies for age-related diseases.
