Ellen Muir is an Assistant Professor of Applied Economics at the MIT Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She holds a PhD in Economics from Stanford University (2022) and a PhD in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Melbourne, alongside earlier degrees from the same institution. Prior to MIT, she was a Prize Fellow in Economics, History, and Politics at Harvard University and a Post-Doctoral Fellow at J-PAL at MIT.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on firms with market power, leveraging mechanism design to analyze product design, procurement, labor hiring, and regulatory interventions. Key areas include antitrust policy, property rights, monopoly pricing, and optimal market mechanisms.
