John J. Horton is an Associate Professor of Information Technologies at the MIT Sloan School of Management. His research focuses on labor economics, market design, and information systems, with a focus on improving matching markets' efficiency and equity. Horton holds a BS in Mathematics from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University. Prior to MIT, he was at NYU Stern School of Business and worked as a staff economist at oDesk.
He has contributed to executive education programs such as the AI Executive Academy and Leading the AI-Driven Organization, bridging technical AI knowledge with business leadership. His work explores AI's impact on labor markets, resume optimization, remote work trends, and economic agent simulations. Recent media engagements include panels at the Bipartisan Policy Center and Thinker-Fest 2023.
