Ellen L. Idler is the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Sociology at Emory University and Director of Graduate Recruitment. She leads Emory's Religion and Public Health Collaborative. Her research focuses on social connections, self-rated health's impact on mortality, and religious participation's role in health outcomes. She holds a PhD from Yale University (1985), MA from Rutgers (1976), and BA from College of Wooster (1974).
