Dr. Ellen Kuenzig is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, Western University, with a cross-appointment in the Department of Paediatrics.
Dr. Kuenzig completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario and ICES, funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Crohn's and Colitis Canada, the Canadian Association of Gastroenterology, and Mitacs Canada. She earned her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Calgary and her Master's in Epidemiology at Western University.
Her research focuses on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) epidemiology and health services research using routinely-collected health data. She investigates environmental factors associated with increased risk of developing IBD, factors related to disease severity, and patient interactions with the healthcare system. She is also interested in methodological aspects of research using health administrative data.
Dr. Kuenzig is an active member of professional organizations:
- Investigator with the Canadian Gastro-Intestinal Epidemiology Consortium (cangiec.ca) and member of its Scientific Committee
- Member of Crohn's and Colitis Canada's Scientific and Medical Advisory Council
- Steering committee member for The Canadian Children Inflammatory Bowel Disease Network (CIDsCaNN)
