Ella Vines is a Research Fellow at Monash University’s Green Lab and a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. Her work focuses on regulatory frameworks for net-zero and nature-positive businesses, legal pathways to reduce coal extraction, and climate change law. She holds an LLM and LLB from the University of Melbourne and Deakin University, respectively, with a Diploma in Indonesian Languages. Prior to academia, she practiced commercial law in litigation and not-for-profit structuring.
Her research expertise spans international law, environmental law, corporate sustainability, and human rights. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and environmental protection. Ella has organized webinars on nature-positive Australia and participated in government submissions regarding sustainability reporting and climate governance.
Her recent articles explore legal challenges in biodiversity protection, coal mining constraints under the Paris Agreement, and corporate net-zero regulations. She actively engages with policy-making through submissions to industry committees and public commentary on environmental reforms.
