Ella Rabaiotti is a Lecturer in Criminology at Swansea University, focusing on probation service reform, social justice, and community safety. She convenes the Wales Center for Crime and Social Justice's Probation Service Development Group and serves on the board of Swansea University's Local Challenges Research Office. With over 20 years in criminal/social justice, she holds a qualified Probation Officer status and has led projects in Integrated Offender Management and Restorative Justice. She pioneered Crimestoppers’ youth initiative 'Fearless' and founded the Wales Safer Communities Network.
Educationally, she teaches modules like Media, Crime & Criminal Justice (ASC218), Study Skills in Social Sciences (SPC113), and Probation and Community Justice (SPC301). Her research spans probation service devolution, inclusion health for probationers, and Crimestoppers' role in crime reporting. Notably, her work was honored at the 2015 Wales Leadership Awards for improving ex-offenders' employability through a service-user led charity.
Her recent publications (2023–2025) address professional probation standards in Wales, health interventions for probationers, and community safety partnerships. She collaborates with organizations like Public Health Wales and the St David’s Medical Foundation on health equity projects targeting criminal justice populations.
Ella is a Welsh speaker (basic level) and active in public engagement, including podcast discussions on community safety and panel roles at the Llandeilo Literature Festival. Her work bridges academic research with practical policy implementation, emphasizing user-centric solutions for marginalized groups.
