Dr Elizabeth Newton is an Associate Professor at the Division of Psychology, London South Bank University (LSBU), with a focus on individual differences, cognitive development, and specific language impairments (SLI). She previously held a Postdoctoral Fellowship at University College London (UCL) and has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Essex (2001).

Her research explores the interplay between language and cognition, particularly in children with SLI, as seen in the PuzzleTalk and NumberTalk projects. She also investigates cognitive psychology applications in metro map design, building thermal efficiency, and academic integrity from a BAME student perspective. Recent work includes collaborations on shading devices, visual comfort, and engineering pedagogy.
Her publications span cognitive development, educational assessment, and interdisciplinary engineering design. Key themes include dyslexia, thermal modelling, and reverse psychology in education. Awards include an ESRC fellowship (2003) and multiple LSBU grants.
