Elizabeth Neale is a Career Development Senior Fellow and Lecturer at the University of Wollongong (UOW), affiliated with the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences under the Faculty of Science, Medicine and Health. She holds an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian certification from Dietitians Australia (2019). Her research focuses on evidence-based nutrition methodologies, particularly systematic reviews and meta-analyses, with an emphasis on whole foods, dietary patterns, and chronic disease prevention.
Dr. Neale completed her PhD in Nutrition at UOW in 2012 and previously served as a director at Landmark Nutrition (2012–2016). She has supervised numerous higher-degree research students, including those investigating metabolic syndrome, nut consumption impacts, and dietary guidelines. Her work bridges clinical practice and environmental sustainability, as seen in her development of the GWP*-AUSNUT database linking nutrition to climate impact assessments.
Key grants include NHMRC funding for fiber-based metabolic syndrome research (2024–2027) and industry-backed studies on avocado and walnut consumption (2016–2021). She serves as a Systematic Review Editor for Nutrition and Dietetics. Recent publications highlight topics like probiotic efficacy, food labeling perceptions, and copper/zinc deficiencies post-bariatric surgery.
