Elizabeth Logsdon

Elizabeth Logsdon is an Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. She serves as Director of the Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program, Director of the BME Design Studio, and Director of the Sardella Engineering Design Center. Her roles include overseeing curriculum innovation, undergraduate advising, and multidisciplinary design initiatives.

Education: PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Virginia (2010), BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia (2003).

Research interests focus on engineering education methodologies, design thinking, medical device prototyping, and regulatory frameworks. She leads the BME Design Team Program, a cornerstone undergraduate curriculum emphasizing user-centered design processes from concept to validation.

She directs the Sardella Engineering Design Center, a schoolwide initiative to elevate project-based learning across departments and organize JHU Design Day. The Center aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and modernize engineering pedagogy.
