Elizabeth Lake is a Lecturer in Education at the University of East Anglia (UEA), affiliated with the School of Education & Lifelong Learning within the Faculty of Social Sciences. She holds a PhD (2018) from UEA, exploring how experienced mathematics teachers use emotions in teaching. Her roles include leading the Secondary Mathematics PGCE program, serving as secondary partnership lead, and overseeing the UEA MA in Mathematics Education. She is also the academic lead for the East Maths Community (EMC), a collaboration between UEA and Inspiration Trust to enhance regional mathematics education through outreach programs.

Research interests focus on affective dimensions of teaching, particularly emotions in mathematics instruction and strategies to foster student engagement. Her work integrates physiological data (e.g., GSR) to analyze teacher-emotion dynamics and pedagogical risk-taking. Recent contributions include studies on teacher reflection via biometric feedback and classroom risk management.
Advising and Projects: Supervises MA and PhD students, coordinates teacher training initiatives, and manages the EMC project involving 10 schools and 3 colleges. Active in academic service, including journal reviewing and editorial work for Research in Mathematics Education.
