Elizabeth L'Estrange is an Associate Professor in the History of Art at the University of Birmingham, part of the School of Languages, Cultures, Art History and Music. She specializes in medieval and early modern art, focusing on illuminated manuscripts, book history, and gender studies. Her research examines women's roles as patrons and consumers of visual culture, particularly in French and Burgundian courts. She has held leadership roles, including Deputy Head of School and Director of Undergraduate Studies. Her work bridges art history with gender theory, addressing themes like maternity, power, and identity in pre-modern contexts.

Awards include the Royal Historical Society fellowship and grants from the British Academy and Leverhulme Trust.
