Dr. Elizabeth Kurucz is an Associate Professor of Leadership and Sustainability in the Department of Management at the University of Guelph's Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. She holds a PhD in Organizational Behavior from York University's Schulich School of Business, an MIR from the University of Toronto, and a BA in Anthropology from McMaster University.
Her research focuses on organizational change toward sustainable practices, social construction of sustainability, and leadership roles in fostering resilience. She has published widely in journals such as Journal of Business Ethics and Management Learning, and authored the book Reconstructing Value: Leadership Skills for a Sustainable World (2013). Her work emphasizes multi-sector collaboration and transformative learning.
Kurucz has taught at multiple institutions, including York University and McMaster, and designs courses integrating leadership and sustainability. She received the 2013 UGFA Distinguished Professor Award for her innovative teaching methods. She advises student groups like Net Impact and SOS, which support sustainable development projects. Her grants include SSHRC-funded projects on sustainability labs and entrepreneurship experiments.
Her recent research explores social learning for resilience, leadership ethics, and scaling sustainable initiatives through design labs. She collaborates globally on projects linking academia, business, and civil society to address systemic challenges.
